OnX Difficulty Trail Description Vehicle Requirements
(Land Rover & Grenadier)
Driver Skill Level
Easy (1–2) Graded dirt roads and wide fire roads with minimal obstacles. Suitable for scenic drives and first-time off-roaders. • Stock Land Rover or Grenadier
• All-season or mild all-terrain tires
• Factory AWD / traction control
• Full-size spare tire
• Beginner friendly
• Basic off-road awareness
• Comfortable driving on dirt and gravel
Moderate (3) Narrower trails with rocks, ruts, sand, or mild ledges. Increased need for careful line choice. • Stock or lightly modified vehicle
• All-terrain tires recommended
• two-speed transfer case
• Front & rear recovery points
• Rock Sliders
• Some off-road experience
• Throttle and brake control
• Comfortable using low range
Difficult (4) Technical terrain with steep climbs, larger rocks, off-camber sections, and articulation challenges. • Aggressive all-terrain or mud-terrain tires
• Rock sliders
• Two-speed transfer case
• Skid plates for underbody protection
• Locking differential(s) recommended
• High clearance
• Confident technical driving
• Experience following spotters
• Understanding vehicle clearance and limits
Extreme (5) Highly technical trails with large obstacles, body contact risk, and potential need for winching. • All of the above and:
• Heavy-duty armor (sliders, skids, bumpers)
• Front & rear locking differentials
• Mud-terrain tires
• Winch and full recovery gear
• Advanced off-road experience
• Expert spotting and recovery skills
• Acceptance of possible vehicle damage
